KKR to begin their Eden Gardens campaign against the high-flying KXIP, Kolkata Seek To Use Home Advantage To Halt Punjab’s Run
The first week of IPL 2017 has already seen a lot of nail biting encounters and fans have been treated to the best cricketing action from players all over the world.
Eden Gardens Kolkata will witness first action in the IPL 10 when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on a happening Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in what promises to be a high-voltage encounter. While KXIP have things going their way, KKR have swayed between the sublime and the ridiculous when they managed to beat Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets and then contrived to somehow lose to Mumbai Indians off the penultimate ball of their contest.
The Kings XI Punjab have turned over a new leaf after finishing at the bottom of the table for the past two years. A change in captaincy has changed their fortunes as well as they won the first two games of the season against the Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore quite comfortably.
Glenn Maxwell who took over the captaincy from David Miller has been exceptional this season with a strike rate of 207+ and he is yet to dismissed
KXIP have largely fallen back on Varun Aaron, Sandeep Sharma and Mohit Sharma for the department, with the rather thin spin department being led by Axar Patel.
The Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, have had a mixed start to their campaign. After demolishing the Gujarat Lions in the first match by 10 wickets, they lost out in an extremely tight contest to the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Chris Lynn, who has hurt himself badly in the last match and might not be available in the entire IPL 2017, due to a shoulder injury.
KKR has one of the best pace batteries in IPL 10, with Umesh Yadav, Trent Boult, Chris Woakes and even young Ankit Rajpoot in the fray. Then they have the wrist spin of Kuldeep Yadav and the yet-untested left-arm spin of Shakib-al Hasan.

Our Prediction for the game:
Giving today’s match prediction is really tough as both the teams look good to outdo the other. Also, it will be tough to speculate on who will win IPL match today.
The odds are heavily in favour of KKR with a clear edge on the head to head record (Chris Lynn’s ijury will be concern). To go with that KKR will be playing their first game at the Eden gardens but given the form, KXIP is in a favourable result for them might be on the cards.
Our Prediction for win is 55% KXIP – 45% KKR
When these two teams clash against each other, as the KKR vs KXIP match would be intense, one would also have to keep a look on the points table, as a lot might be happening on the same after the match at Eden Gardens. Currently, the Kings XI Punjab are placed at the top of the table with 4 points from two games. The Kolkata Knight Riders are placed at number 5 with just 2 points from as many games.
