Both teams will be looking to get back on track after losing their previous game, DD’s pace attack to test KXIP’s formidable batting line-up
Tonight the Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils will be battling out each other at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh. With just two wins from seven games, Delhi are languishing at the bottom of the league table while Punjab have three wins from eight outings to be placed at sixth.
Both Punjab and Delhi come into this match having been comprehensively beaten in their previous games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.
KXIP’s batsmen have fired hot and cold – yet, they have enough talent, experience and class in the batting line-up to help them to reasonable scores. KXIP have fielded a different bowling combination in each of their games. However, time is fast running out, and KXIP need to find a bowling attack that can keep their opponents in check.
DD have the luxury of a game in hand, but they need to take off from the floor of the standings. Zaheer Khan’s side has competed well, but have missed out on clinching the crucial moments. The team will be boosted by the arrival of two-time World T20 winner Marlon Samuels (who won the Man of the Match in both the World T20 Finals). The skipper Zaheer Khan suffered a hamstring injury in the previous match, and if he hasn’t recovered sufficiently, the Daredevils could feel his absence on the leadership front and for the experience he lends to the bowling attack.

Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab have a very strong lineup on paper. Martin Guptill might get his second game of the season after a promising start in his first. Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, and Eoin Morgan make up the middle order for the team.
In the bowling department, they might bring back T Natarajan at the expense of Anureet Singh. Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Sharma are the certain starters in the bowling lineup.
Probable XI: Manan Vohra, Martin Guptill, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell(c), Axar Patel, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Mohit Sharma, Anureet singh/T Natarajan, KC Cariappa, Sandeep Sharma, Ishant Sharma.
The Delhi camp would be happy with the way a couple of their batsmen fared up in the previous game. Sanju Samson continued his good form at the top order. He will continue to open the innings with Karun Nair. Shreyas Iyer has got runs under his belt at number three and is certain to be in the lineup. Rishabh Pant has not quite been firing in the last three matches which comes as a bothering issue for the Daredevils.
If the injured Zaheer Khan is unavilable, Shami is the possible replacement.
Probable XI: Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Karun Nair, Ankit Bawne, Rishabh Pant(w), Corey Anderson, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Mohmmad Shami.
Head to Head
Overall: Matches played – 19, KXIP Won – 10, DD Won – 9.
In Mohali: Matches played – 4, KXIP Won – 3, DD Won – 1.
Earlier this season, the Delhi Daredevils got the better of Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground; after opting to bat first, DD posted 188-6 riding on a half-century from Sam Billings and a cameo from Corey Anderson (39* from 22 balls). In the second half, the DD bowlers restricted the visitors to 137-9 to help their team to a massive 51-run win.
Our Prediction for the game:
The match prediction today is really challenging. When the two teams clash against each other, as the KXIP v/s DD match would be intense, one would also have to keep a look on the points table, as a lot might be happening on the same after the match
DD have their noses a head looking at their bowling lineup.
Our Prediction goes with KXIP 63% – DD 27%
With one side boasting of a strong batting line-up and the other probably having the best bowling attack in the tournament, it will be interesting to see which team comes out on top at Mohali, a surface which generally favors the batsmen while providing little assistance to the bowlers.
