Can KKR continue their impressive home form or will DD get back into form with a win away from home?
Inconsistency has been Delhi Daredevils’ biggest problem in IPL 2017 and that has taken them to the bottom of the table ahead of their game against Kolkata Knight Riders. With the matches coming thick and fast, DD will look for wins during the period that their captain Zaheer Khan described crucial to their chances of making it through to the playoffs.
They will face an in-form KKR side who have a settled side who have adapted to the change in their home conditions like a duck to water. The game will also be a battle between two of the finest captains to never become full-time captains of India in Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir, who have impressed one and all with their tactics and their approach to the game.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, their batting has been their biggest strength. The opening combination of Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Narine has been a huge hit while the rest of the top order, Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey have also been in good form.
When & Where:
28 April 2017, 1600 Hrs IST @ Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Current Status in IPL 2017
KKR: Matches –8, Won – 6, Lost – 2
DD : Matches – 6, Won –2, Lost – 4
Kolkata Knight Riders
Given their brilliant streak off late, KKR is unlikely to tinker with their winning combination. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, the batting department has clicked in some match or the other which has kept them in good stead. It has been an all-round performance by the team who have been led brilliantly by an inspirational captain Gautam Gambhir
Predicted XI: Gautam Gambhir, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Yusuf Pathan, Colin de Grandhomme, Chris Woakes, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav
Mohammed Shami hasn’t got a chance despite being fit and that is a big statement given by Zaheer Khan. Shami has been the undisputed leader of the Indian pace attack before he was shaken by injuries. He will be raring to go if he gets a chance tomorrow and will look to rattle a few stumps.
They have some exceptional players in the foreign department and after Kagiso Rabada’s brilliant innings against the Mumbai Indians, the DD team management might be tempted to persist with him. Sam Billings is also expected to e back at the top of the order given the brilliant pitch at the Eden Gardens.
Predicted XI: Sam Billings, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Karun Nair, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Shami
Head to Head Record
Overall: Total Matches –18, KKR Won – 11, DD Won – 7
At the Eden Gardens: Total Matches– 6, KKR Won – 5, DD Won – 1
The two teams met earlier in the tournament where the Knight riders prevailed in a nail-biting thriller by 4 wickets and with a delivery to go. Since then Delhi has failed to get the winning streak back and has lost a couple of matches on a bounce. They will surely look to make a comeback if they harbour of hopes of reaching the playoffs of the tournament.
Our Prediction for the game:
The odds are firmly tilted in favour of the hosts and an upset is a highly unlikely result given the two team’s form.
Our Prediction goes with KKR 57%– DD 43%
DD is not a bad team , they have got pace in their bowling which can be a trouble to any batting side, if there batting unit play with consistantly no other team is as dangeoures as Delhi.
